Obstetrician visit
Your initial visit and follow-ups
What should you bring?
When you come for your first visit, please make sure to bring:
- Any past medical records: This helps me understand your health history.
- Your Medicare card: Essential for any claims that need to be made.
- Private health insurance information: It’s important to check what’s covered.
- A list of medications: If you’re taking any, I need to know to tailor your care.
What will private obstetric care cost?
Understanding the costs of private obstetric care can be tricky. Here’s a breakdown of what the services that I offer, please contact the rooms for informed financial consent as the costs differ in relation to your cover and medicare status :
- First consultation: This includes a long consult with myself and my midwife and a dating scan with an initial discussion about your plan for your pregnancy, partial rebate available from Medicare.
- Ongoing antenatal consultations: These regular check-ups keep track of your and your baby’s health, partial rebate by Medicare.
- Planning and management: At around 28 weeks, a management fee is charged, partial rebate by medicare, this usually takes you over the medicare safety net.
- Delivery: This fee is typically covered by your health fund, but if you’re self-funded, you will have to cover the costs.
